Planting up your pond using Aquatic Plant and Lily Pots is the best way to create a thriving ecosystem, filled with different habitats for a wide variety of creatures to call home. Pond plants are so easy to care for as they love to live – unlike some of our garden and house plants! A pond plant has all the sun, nutrients and water that it needs and so they can be enthusiastic growers.
The main reason a plant will stop flowering is that it has either run out of food or space.Â
When choosing a pot for your pond plants and waterlilies, always go for the largest you can fit as the more space they have to grow, the happier and more beautiful the plant will be. When buying pond plants, they are usually sold in 9cm, 1L or 3L baskets but this is just for the ease of the nurseries growth and transportation. At Aqua Eden, we only sell 1L and larger as we know that by this time, the plant is ready to thrive, although still needs a little care. All plants are ready to be repotted into a size or two larger by the time they make it to their new home.
Pots for Marginal Pond Plants
We love to use fabric pots as they can form to any shape, whether you have sloped shelves in your pond, a shallow beach or where rigid pots will stick out of the water. We offer two types of Aquatic Plant and Lily Pots, we have the two-pack planters in 15cm, 20cm and 30cm. These are great for marginal plants.
Pots for Waterlilies
For waterlilies or for year on year mixed arrangements, the heavy duty planters are perfect. Made from specialised non woven geotextile fabric, these heavy-duty pots allow for the proper development of aquatic plants due to increased access to oxygen and nutrients, resulting in more robust and faster growing plants. The thick nylon straps make it easy to life and manoeuvre in and out of the pond, even when wet. These heavy duty lily planters come in 30cm, 40cm and 50cm.

Helping them thrive
Aquatic plants are HUNGRY, you must always use Aquatic Soil when planting in your Aquatic Plant and Lily Pots as this is the opposite of the nutrient rich compost, instead Aquatic Soil has very low nutrients in it so that we aren’t feeding your water, the algae and the green water all this lovely food, and instead targeting the plants we want to see flourish. Instead, we use slow release plant food that you can feed once per year to sustain the plant throughout the summer.
