Our new Pondless Stream and Waterfall DIY kits give you a simple and affordable garden stream. Each kit comes complete with everything you need to build a beautiful, one of a kind, recirculating waterfall or stream in any space. Everything is there, eliminating the guesswork and calculations when purchasing individual components.
The Pondless Stream and Waterfall DIY Kit uses an underground reservoir meaning that there is no deep water above ground. The moving water provides the movement and sound of a stream but with shallow and safe water. This makes it perfect for young children, animals and birds
Stream or Waterfall?
Depending on the elevation that you choose, you can create a babbling shallow stream or more dramatic waterfall drops. I love a Pondless because of the variety of life that will call this place home. Pondlesses have simple maintenance and can be turned on and off as you like (as long as the plants can survive). You will avoid most pond problems as the majority of the water is kept cool and dark in the underground in the reservoir. The included SL doser will keep your water bursting with beneficial bacteria giving you really low maintenance, sparkling water.
Maintenance
Ongoing maintenance will include cleaning the pump quarterly, topping up due to evaporation and keeping debris cleared from the stream.
These Pondless Stream and Waterfall DIY kits include:
- Aquascape flat sheet liner of varying sizes to line the hidden reservoir. Where applicable, a second sheet lines the stream.
- Protective fleece underlay to line the dug hole or stream, preventing puncturing of the pond liner.
- Pondless Waterfall Vault for quick and easy access to the underground reservoir and pump for maintenance.
- Waterfall Spillway unit for wide and even distribution at the top of the waterfall, with high strength enabling them to be buried within the landscape with dirt, gravel, stones and boulders.
- AquaBlox for adding structure into the reservoir while preserving void space for water, allowing the reservoir to be hidden below stones and gravel for the water to permeate through back into the reservoir.
- EcoWave pond pump for efficiently feeding the waterfall system with water from the reservoir.
- Dual Union Check Valve 2.0 for connecting to the pump, preventing backflow from the pipework and Waterfall Spillway unit in the event of the pump being turned off. This protects against overflow of the reservoir from backflow.
- Flexible PVC pipework and PVC glue for feeding water to the waterfall system.
- Black waterfall foam for securing and filling gaps between rocks and boulders used to construct and naturalise the watercourse.
- Black silicone sealant for sealing the threads across all threaded fittings, preventing leaking of water through the threads.
- SL Dosing System for creating and maintaining great water chemistry, improving the efficiency of the biological filtration that develops in the system as bacteria colonise the surface area of rocks and stones, aiding the removal of excess nutrient.
- Maintain for Ponds SL treatment containing beneficial bacteria to kick start biological action in the system, phosphate binder and flocculant to reduce nutrient levels and suspended algae cells, and pond detoxifier to remove and detoxify chlorine, chloramine, heavy metals and other toxins.
What else will I need for my Pondless Stream and Waterfall?
Rocks
You will need some rocks and river pebbles of different sizes. Facebook Marketplace is a great place for rocks and most are a good choice. Avoid Limestone as this is alkaline and can encourage algae growth. You can find rounded river rocks at garden centres, the round shape is important so as not to puncture the liner. Choose larger pebbles and cobbles so that they don’t get washed down into the underground reservoir.
Plants
Planting makes for a beautiful stream, Aqua Eden has a great supply to choose from and we can suggest the right mix of plants to embed this into your garden for year round enjoyment.
Power
The Pondless Stream and Waterfall DIY Kit will need a power socket as the low energy pumps need more oomf (technical term) than solar can offer.
We can offer professional installation through our sister company DU Waterscapes.
