May 29th Kids Half Term – Build A Micro-Pond

Looking for a kids half-term activity in Somerset that’s a little different? Something fun, hands-on, and a bit magical?

Come to Aqua Eden for our Kids Half Term – Build a Micro Pond workshop! This is the perfect family-friendly event where children, teenagers (and yes, adults too!) can create their very own wildlife pond in a pot — complete with wood, stone, and plants — to take home and care for. Adult supervision is required, so it’s a lovely opportunity for grandparents, parents, or carers to get involved too.

This isn’t just “arts and crafts” — it’s real pond-building, scaled down. Together we’ll design and assemble each mini pond, and along the way we’ll chat about:

• How ponds attract frogs, dragonflies, and pollinators to your garden

• Why clean water matters for wildlife and how they can care for it

• How even a small pond can make a big difference to your garden ecosystem

We provide all the materials, expert guidance, biscuits and squash, and plenty of encouragement to get everyone hands-on and creative.

Pricing:

• £150 per family for the full micro pond kit including stone, wood and plants.

• £90 materials only if you have an existing pond to bring along.  For biosecurity please make sure it is COMPLETELY empty and cleaned of algae.  We will be basing our activity on a ~60cm round pond.
• £5 per additional child if they are sharing a pond (this covers drinks and snacks)

This is a fun, informative, and relaxing afternoon out — a chance to step away from screens, enjoy a practical project, and leave with something living and beautiful. Compared to cinemas or soft play, this is an activity with lasting value: your pond will grow, flourish, and attract wildlife for months to come.
