How do I install one myself?

This is a slightly older video with the older designs of the products but the principle is exactly the same.

What is a Fountainscape Kit?

A Fountainscape is a small decorative water feature that produces a bubble of water to give that sound and movement of water, recirculated through a reservoir of water.  They are still very valuable to wildlife, especially birds, bees and butterflies.  Knowing your target audience will allow you to plant it up to further attract these creatures.  Without the body of water, there wont be frogs or newts in here.

By supplying them as a kit, they are a perfect weekend activity to add a new element to your garden.

Can I use a solar pump?

Unfortunately not.  Water is really heavy to move and solar power is not yet strong enough to push the amount of water required.  However, it is very easy to get power around your garden by running cables along fences or digging a simple trench.  This feature requires a single socket but is low powered enough to run multiple features from this source with an addition of a splitter box that we can also provide.

What do I do over winter?

These features are great as they can be easily turned on and off as you need so can be fully switched off over the winter months.  They are completely frost hardy so no harm will come to them.  Just consider the plants you use to ensure that they won’t dry out.

How can I make this even better?

Talk to us about adding colour or white lights to extend your enjoyment.  You can add light controlled timers that will turn the lights on a dusk for a set period of time making it a wonderful way to extend your view into the garden after a busy day.  We love to cover the basin with pebbles and cobbles which you can collect from Aqua Eden. Planting wide boarders around them embed them into the landscape.

Where should I put my fountainscape?

Placing your fountainscape by a seating area or close to the house is our favourite place.  With timers for your lights and pump, you can have this running at key parts of your day

What maintenance does it need?

These fountainscape kits are a really low maintenance water features.  The main thing is to top up the basin due to evaporation.  You will know when to do this when you can hear the usually silent pump humming.  This could be perhaps once a week during summer.

Algae is very low on a fountainscape as the majority of the water is stored underground in the dark.  If you do have any issues, turn off the feature and let it dry out.  You can also dose with beneficial bacteria like Maintain to keep the larger body of water in the bowls clear.
