💧Ideal for use as a biological filter media

💧Each ball provides 120cm2 of surface area for bacteria colonization

💧Includes media net with drawstring

Aquascape BioBalls Biological Filter Media supports effective biological filtration.  They do this by providing textured surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow and colonise. Each ball offers 120cm2 of surface area, and the centre channel allows the balls to be strung together, or placed in the accompanying mesh bag, making cleaning quick and simple.

BioBalls Biological Filter Media will not break down like traditional biological media options, providing years of trouble-free use without replacement. The paddle wheel design breaks water flow, helping to de-gas the water and maximize dissolved oxygen levels. Compact size allows for placement into smaller spaces and each 100 count includes a media net with drawstring.

Why do I need BioBalls?

Beneficial bacteria are the goodies in the constant battle for clean and clear water quality.  These good bacteria, naturally break down nutrients in the water.  Without them, it leads to sludge, low oxygen levels, and algae.  We want to encourage as many beneficial bacteria to thrive in our ponds.  To do this, we need two things; a large surface area and oxygen.  Bioballs increase your existing surface area, as do plants, rocks and gravel.  You can add oxygen from a waterfall, fountain or aeration diffuser like our Air Pro 20.  You can instantly boost your Beneficial Bacteria with regular dosing of Beneficial Bacteria to get these BioBalls quickly populated.

Instructions for Installing your BioBalls Biological Filter Media:

Place your 100 bioballs into the includes mesh bag, or string them along a line, and place inside your Biofalls or at the bottom of your pond.  The Beneficial Bacteria will naturally colonise within a slimy biofilm.  Ensure there is plenty of oxygen in your pond and soon the beneficial bacteria will help the natural process of breaking down excess nutrients within the water.

How Often:

Remove annually and spray down with a hose to remove any build up of debris which may have become trapped within the net.  They are ready to use for many more years to come.
